Obituary

James (Jim) Michael Garrett, 69, beloved husband of the late Luann Garrett, passed away on July 20, 2023.

Jim was a loving father and is survived by his son John James Garrett, daughter Jamie Leigh Garrett, and grandson Bodhi Streeter.  Jim also loved his family and is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Harvey (Hilary) Garrett, Mona (George) Tizedes, Albert (Toni) Garrett, and Dorinda Garrett along with many nieces and nephews.  Jim is now at rest with his brother Larry Garrett and sister Patricia Garrett.

Jim was born on 09/12/1955 in Detroit, MI to Albert Devoy and Mary Gwendolyn (Qualls) Garrett (deceased).  Jim was a loving father and passionate about his job as a Broker and Real Estate Agent.  Jim was always so proud when he closed on a home for one of his clients.  He loved to stay connected to his clients and would often tell stories of small gestures he did over the years to stay in touch.  Everyone who knew Jim, knew he loved a good Western, rock music and classic cars.  Jim had a favorite saying for those who slept in late โ€˜Get up, you are trading daylight for dark!โ€™.  Jim was always there for a friend in need and will be missed by all who knew him.  If there is a rock nโ€™ roll heaven, Jim is there in the front row dancing to the music.

  • It was with much shock and sadness that I learned of Jimโ€™s passing. (As we all expected him to pull thru). From his 60th birthday party, celebrating NYEve, to local car shows, discussing real estate issues, talking about training our dogs, and dancing up at the Den, Jimโ€™s passing leaves a void in our lives. Last night, the โ€˜regularsโ€™ hoisted one in his honor. He is, and will be, missed by all. I know he is our guardian angel, looking after his friends, colleagues and family. ๐Ÿ’” Sue Murray
